Depth is the decision at this size, not width. If two vehicles need to sit side by side rather than in line, 20 feet is not enough door wall — that is a 30-foot-wide building, not a longer 20.
Two things worth settling before engineering rather than after, because both are far cheaper to change on paper:
- Which end the door goes in. On a 30-foot depth, a door in the gable end gives you one long clear run; a door in the side wall splits the floor in two. That choice is engineering, not trim.
- Whether a second vehicle is ever likely. Two vehicles side by side need door wall, not depth. If that is on the horizon, it is a wider building rather than a longer one.
What a 20x30 Costs Beyond the Building
$11,400 covers stamped engineering drawings, the building components and freight. It does not cover concrete. A 600 square foot slab is a single-truck pour for most contractors and often a one-day placement, which is exactly why it gets left out of mental budgets - it feels small enough to sort out later.

A 20x30 isn’t Northcraft’s smallest size, but it’s nowhere near the limit of what the C-channel system can span — 20 feet of width uses half of the 40-foot clear span the framing can hold, so nothing about this footprint stresses the structure. Foundation and freight scale the same direction.
