C-Channel Steel Buildings
From a workshop to farm storage, start with what you need the space to do and shape your building around it.
50-Year Paint Warranty, 50-Year Rust Perforation Warranty, 60-Year Structural Warranty, and Lifetime Warranty on Hardware — all transferable to the next property owner.

How the frame is built
A C-channel frame takes its name from the C-shaped profile of its steel members. Northcraft uses a C-channel solid frame, with Galvalume AZ55 coating on all primary and secondary framing. That coating covers every frame member, not just the girts and purlins.
Northcraft's C-channel framing is made from steel with a minimum yield strength of 55,000 psi.
All girts and purlins are coated in Galvalume AZ55. All of Northcraft's roof and wall panels are coated in Galvalume AZ55.
Inside, the frame spans wall to wall with no interior columns, so you can park, work and store wherever your layout makes sense.

Where could you use a C-channel building?
Picture the daily work first. A garage or workshop needs room for the vehicles and tasks you have in mind; farm storage begins with what you plan to keep under cover. You can also explore commercial buildings and custom buildings as you work out your layout.
Northcraft's online size and price examples use C-channel framing through 40 feet wide on a 10-foot eave basis. That describes the examples, not the largest building you can request. Browse sizes and prices, then share the dimensions that suit your use rather than treating an example as a limit.
Still deciding between a workshop and storage? Describe both to your estimator. You do not have to pick an online example first.

Is C-channel the right fit?
Ask yourself:
- Are you planning a garage, workshop, farm storage building, or commercial space?
- Is your building 40 feet wide or narrower? Our C-channel sizes run up to 40 feet wide on a 10-foot eave basis.
- Would a clear-span interior help you arrange vehicles, storage, or work areas without interior columns?
- Do you want every frame member coated in Galvalume AZ55, not just the girts and purlins?
- Might you want a mezzanine or more length later? Northcraft can supply a mezzanine, and bays can be added to lengthen a steel building; width and height cannot be extended.
If your plans call for a different scale, explore I-beam buildings as well. The estimator can discuss the frame alongside your dimensions and site.
Engineering, drawings, and delivery
Northcraft runs the actual engineering calculations for your specific site before any money changes hands, so you can discuss real engineering figures rather than an estimate.
Northcraft's engineer-stamped building drawings come standard with every building and include anchor bolt plans. Engineer-stamped foundation plans are separate: they usually come from the contractor laying the slab, and Northcraft can provide them too. Where the site needs a foundation permit, the permitting department almost always wants engineer-stamped foundation plans before issuing it. Our advice: ask your Northcraft estimator to provide stamped foundation plans with your building drawings.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a C-channel building?
The frame gets its name from steel members with a C-shaped profile. Northcraft's C-channel solid frame has Galvalume AZ55 coating on its primary and secondary framing.
What can I use a C-channel building for?
You can plan one for a garage, workshop, farm storage, or a commercial space. Tell the estimator what you need to do inside so the conversation starts with your actual use.
Are C-channel buildings limited to the sizes shown online?
No. The sizes and prices shown online use C-channel framing through 40 feet wide on a 10-foot eave basis, but those examples are not a size limit; Northcraft can supply a building in the size you need.
What drawings come with the building?
Engineer-stamped building drawings, including anchor bolt plans, come standard. Foundation plans are separate; ask your estimator about stamped foundation plans if you need them.
Can I add a second floor or extend the building later?
Yes, Northcraft can supply a mezzanine. You can lengthen a steel building later by adding bays, but you cannot extend its width or height.
When is delivery?
Northcraft delivers nationwide. Typically 45-60 days from order to delivery.
Tell us about your building
A useful quote starts with the way you plan to use the building. Tell your estimator:
- How you will use the space, including what needs to fit inside.
- Your planned width and length, even if you are still considering options.
- The eave height you have in mind.
- What doors you need and where you expect to place them.
- Where the building will go, so the site can be considered.
