Google User Data Compliance: Northcraft Steel Buildings’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. 4. Website Chat Assistant
On desktop computers, our website offers an optional chat assistant named Gus. Gus is an automated assistant, not a person. Gus does not generate answers while you chat. Every answer is prepared and reviewed in advance, and the assistant selects the one that best matches your question.
What we record: When you send a message to Gus, by typing it or by selecting a suggested reply, we record the text of that message, which pre-written answer Gus gave, the address of the page you were on, and the date and time. Each conversation is identified by a random code that is created in your browser for each visit to the site. That code is not stored on your device and is not linked to your name or contact details. We do not record anything you type until you send it. Our hosting provider also keeps standard technical request logs (such as IP address and browser type) for a limited time.
Contact details: Please do not type your phone number, email address, street address, or other personal information into the chat. If you would like us to contact you, please use our quote form. Before a chat message is recorded, text that looks like a phone number, email address, or street address is removed from it.
Your device: Gus may invite you to chat no more than once every 30 days. To keep to that limit, it saves the date of its last invitation in your browser’s local storage. That date stays on your device and is not sent to us.
Why we record chats: We use chat records to understand the questions visitors ask, to check that the assistant’s answers are accurate, and to improve the assistant and our website.
Where they are stored: Chat records are stored on Northcraft’s own server. A copy may also appear briefly in our hosting provider’s logs. We do not sell chat records, and we do not share them for advertising.
How long we keep them: We keep chat records only as long as needed to respond to visitors and improve the assistant.
Deleting them: To ask us to delete your chat records, email Info@Northcraftsteel.com or call (888) 460-9294 (see Contact Us below). Because chat records are not linked to your name, please tell us roughly when you chatted, which page you were on, and what you typed, so we can find them.
