What These Warranties Mean For You
When we say “Built for Decades. Backed in Writing.” we mean it. Every warranty on this page is Northcraft’s own promise to you — not a manufacturer’s, not a supplier’s, not anyone else’s.
From the day your building is delivered to the day a claim is fully resolved, whether that’s next year or in year 55, you’re dealing with one company: us. There’s no third party to track down, no other warranty card to find, and no “call the manufacturer” runaround.
Structural Framing — 60 Years
The columns, rafters, and structural connections that hold your building up are covered against manufacturing and material defects for 60 years. This is about the steel itself — if a structural component was fabricated incorrectly and fails because of that, we cover it. It doesn’t cover damage from a storm event stronger than your building’s engineered design load (every building is engineered and permitted to a specific wind, snow, and seismic rating — this warranty covers performance up to that rating, not beyond it), and it doesn’t cover damage caused by installation that didn’t follow the stamped engineering drawings.
Rust-Through Protection — 50 Years
Your panels are coated to resist corrosion, and we warrant against rust that fully perforates — eats all the way through — the panel for 50 years. Surface rust, scratches, or discoloration aren’t the same thing as perforation and aren’t covered by this specific warranty, though ordinary defects in materials or workmanship may still be covered elsewhere. Buildings installed very close to saltwater or in industrial/chemical environments have a separate, specific exclusion — see the full Limited Warranty Agreement for the exact distance and details.
Paint & Finish — 50 Years
We warrant your building’s finish against excessive fading, chalking, or cracking for 50 years, measured against a defined technical standard (not a subjective “does it look faded” judgment call). Some gradual color change over 50 years is normal and expected — that’s not a defect, that’s paint aging the way all paint does.
Hardware — Lifetime
Bolts, screws, and connection hardware are covered against manufacturing defects for the life of the building, and that coverage transfers with it to the next owner — the same as the other three.
What happens if something goes wrong.
You contact Northcraft. We inspect (or arrange an inspection) within 15 business days. If it’s a covered defect in the material, we send you a replacement part or reimburse the reasonable cost of one — that’s what this warranty covers. Since we’re not the ones putting your building up, the warranty doesn’t include labor to remove or install a replacement part; that’s on you or whoever you hire, the same as the original erection was. Following the stamped engineering drawings closely when you erect the building — and documenting key connections as you go, before you close them up — is what keeps this warranty valid.
