That covers stamped engineering drawings, the building components, and freight — it does not include the hangar door itself.
Is the hangar door included in the price?
No — doors of any kind are excluded from every Northcraft published floor, and for a hangar the door is usually the single largest additional cost on the project, not an afterthought. Northcraft engineers the wall opening to your specified door width and clear height; the bifold, sliding, or hydraulic door itself is sourced through a door manufacturer, either one you already work with or one we can point you toward.
How wide and tall does the door opening need to be?
That depends entirely on your aircraft's wingspan and tail height, with clearance on top of that for safe maneuvering. Tell us your aircraft (or your largest planned aircraft, if the hangar needs to serve more than one) and we'll engineer the wall opening and any header structure the door manufacturer requires.
Does Northcraft handle airport or FAA approval?
No. Northcraft engineers and delivers the building structure; airport authority approval, leasehold agreements, and any FAA or aviation-specific compliance are handled by you and the airport or local authority directly. We provide the stamped structural engineering drawings those processes typically require as supporting documentation.
Do I need a permit for a hangar?
Most jurisdictions require a standard building permit for the structure itself, in addition to whatever airport-specific approval process applies at your field. We provide the stamped engineering drawings your local building department will ask for.
What loads does the published price assume, and what raises it?
The floors above assume ground snow load up to 35 pounds per square foot and wind speed up to 110 mph. If your county requires more, that moves the price — tell us your zip code and we'll confirm your real number. Eave height above the basis and high seismic activity are the other factors; for an I-beam hangar, a bridge crane or heavy lift system also counts as collateral load.
Can the hangar be customized, or is it a fixed set of sizes?
Every Northcraft building is fully customized to your exact specifications — the sizes above aren't a catalog of fixed layouts. Tell us your door opening, clear height, and any maintenance or office space you need, and we'll engineer to those specs.
How long does a hangar take from order to delivery?
Typically 45-60 days from order to delivery, depending on engineering review and current production volume. Coordinate your door manufacturer's lead time separately — hangar doors are frequently the longer lead-time item on the project.
